I'm not smart. I can't put this on the side like normal people, so here it is in a post. I'm about 1/2 through the foot of my first sock for the 2007 Rockin Sock Club through Blue Moon Fiber Arts. I love this yarn.

Finally - The Clapotis!

I have been wanting to knit the Clapotis ever since I first saw the pattern on knitty. I finally knit it from KnitPicks Andean Silk yarn (Silk merino blend). I love it and wear it all the time. It was much easier to knit than I thought, but the yarn got super heavy as I knit. My wrists were killing me at the end.

Shawl

This isn't THE Shawl, but it is "a" shawl. Knit from one skein of Helen's Lace (color = "black purl"). It was knit in sections, and was very simple. The shawl is very purple-y in person but in a nice way. I got tons of compliments on it.

Scarf for the gorgeous child

This is a scarf knit from a box of patterns my awesome sister in law and brother in law gave me for Christmas. I knit it in a week or so from KnitPicks Palette yarn in "Purple" (appropriately named). Emma picked the color, and she likes the ruffly, girly scarf. I liked it because it was knit by casting on the length, which made it interesting and not monotonous.

And I will now have many posts all at once. I finally finished The Shawl, but I haven't blocked it yet (kind of part of me doesn't want to see it again).

Here are pictures of the "Song of Joy" socks from Cherry Tree Hill. Yes, I realize that the color is, um, violent, but I loved the pattern and will knit it up again in a more subdued tone. I knit these in a few days with Cherry Tree Hill SuperSock (knit on two circular needles).

These socks were knit (in a week or so, very quick knit) out of Cherry Tree Hill Supersock in "Sugar Maple" from their "Flame Walker" pattern. It is hard to take pictures of one's own feet, so bear with the picture taking.

The socks are very lacy and very pretty, and the pattern was designed to be knit on two circular needles, so it was really fun to do. All in all, I would highly recommend both the yarn, which actually feels really nice on my feet, and the pattern.

I finished the SCARF!

This is a scarf knit from Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino. The color is a delightful purple color that makes me think of the sunset. Sappy, I know, but everyone seems to really love this color. The pattern was designed by the blogger at www.kristinwoodknits.blogspot.com. She is a spectacular designer, and everyone should run out and snap up all of the patterns she designs. I have only worn this today and have received MANY compliments. I take kind of not so good pictures so take my word for it that the scarf is way more gorgeous in person than these pictures represent.

What Am I Knitting Now, you ask?

I'm still working on the shawl, currently on Row 165 of 238. I should be done sometime around December 2035 or so.

I also have a cupcake hat on the needles for Emma - it is a hat that looks like a cupcake and it is damn cute. I may hate the yarn that I have for it though, so who knows.

I am also also knitting a beautiful double sided lace scarf from a pattern written by an amazing person who shall currently remain nameless until she tells me it's okay to name her. I can't wait until it's done so that I can wear it. I'm knitting it out of Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino in color #609. It is yummy.

Second (and better) pair of socks

Now these socks are knit from sock yarn (yeah, I don't remember the brand) on two circular needles (just one at a time, let's not get ahead of ourselves). I loved knitting on two circular needles and it was MUCH easier than DPNs for me. For one thing, if DD pulled on my needle (not that she would *ever* do such a thing) it wouldn't cause a major catastrophe. I used Cat Bordhi's book "Socks Soar on Two Circulars", and it was easy to understand. The socks are knit from the first pattern in the book.

I finally remembered to take the pictures off my camera and post. I'm the worst blogger ever. Really.

Here is the very first pair of socks that I ever knit. They are knitted from some kind of sock yarn and from the North Country Baby Sock pattern found on www.knittinghelp.com. They are really cute and Emma has stolen them for her baby.

Raspberry Beret, um, Hat

This is one (of two, hopefully) knit "fruit" hats for a child (0-6 months size). This one is a raspberry - in the close-up picture you can (I hope) see the little raspberry bumps. It knit up pretty fast and is really cute in person. :)

This is Purse #2 knit from the cute felted bag pattern. This one I felted twice and it is definitely child-sized as opposed to adult sized. I knit another one but didn't take pictures before I sent it to a charity auction. Oops. :)

During the saga of "The Shawl," I have been forced to seek tiny, cute, easy little projects that don't make me sigh and/or scream. I popped into an LYS (although not really "local" to me) and found a cute and free pattern for a little felted pouch made of ONE skein of Noro Kureyon. Now, the magic words there were: FREE pattern, ONE skein, and FELTED. I was all over that.

I purchased my one skein of Noro Kureyon #163, which was a very very pretty mix of colors (and, interestingly, some of the colors are hidden from view when you purchase it, so parts of the bag were a surprise, which was actually kind of fun).

I knit this in less than 5 hours total. It would have been more like 2 if the knitting time was uninterrupted (stupid life). I ran it through the washer twice for felting and there you have it. It dried in less than 24 hours, and it took 20 or so minutes to sew on the button and cut off all the fuzzies. Total cost was less than $10.

Finally . . . The Sweater Is Done!

I repeat - The Sweater Is Done! I finally finished my first sweater for Emma. It is a pattern for a basic sweater from the book Top Down for Toddlers. I love that the pattern has no (or very little) sewing involved, but it does make for a very boxy shape to the sweater. I knit a practice sweater (yes, I knit the whole thing) in size 2, and it was HUGE on Emma. The above sweater is a size 1 (much better) knit with Sirdar acrylic yarn. I loved the feel of the yarn and the color. Sweater mission = accomplished.

Bootie Fever

I may have a small bootie problem. I got this great pattern from a LYS (The Vermont Yarn Shop (or store, I can't remember)), located in Middlebury, Vermont. The pattern is called "Christopher's Stay on Booties" and they are supposed to be guaranteed to stay on baby feet. I knit the pair in the picture above pretty quickly, and they are really cute (I used Rowan Handknit Cotten for the yarn). The only problem is that they have a seam in the bottom and up the back. The pattern, however, has instructions for the same booties knit from the top down in the round (i.e. no seams). I have finished 1 3/4 more booties. They just look so damn cute when they are done.

However, I will say that the current scarf obsession was born of me being tired of knitting teensy stitches on teensy needles. LOL

Foxy Scarf

I knit this scarf out of a yarn called "Foxy." I got it at Wal*Mart (shhhhhhh, don't tell). It is knit with 3 strands held together, and is basically just a plain old garter stitch scarf with 13 stitches. The first picture is a close up of the colors, which still really doesn't do it justice. It is a really beautiful blend of colors, and I got tons of compliments about it. One word of caution though if you are tall - the pattern says that the scarf will knit up to 60 inches with the 3 balls, but it doesn't knit past 56 or so in reality (pattern on reverse of yarn label).

I knit this scarf in about 2 hours or so.

Bella Scarf

This is the "Bella" scarf from Knit Picks knit with the Knit Picks "Suri Dream" yarn. It only takes one ball of the yarn for the scarf, and it knits up really fast (I started it last night and finished it before 8 p.m. tonight with not much knitting time during the day). The first picture is of the whole scarf and the second is the ruffled edge.

Yes, I realize that there are dropped stitches. It is part of the pattern. LOL My mom was all worried that I was going to freak when she mentioned the drop stitches.

the single most boring blog ever?!?

I'm going to give this a go and see how it works. I shall post pictures of WIPs and FOs as I have them.

Currently on the needles I have a sweater for DD (almost done the body and should start the sleeves soon) and a scarf for me (probably will NEVER finish that one). Next object: pillow/blanket from Vogue 1 magazine and possibly the baby bunny hat from SnB Nation (sister is due for her first in July, so I should be able (hopefully) to finish by then. My plan is to knit the hat in both pink and blue so that we're ready for baby no matter what. We'll see. LOL
